What is NEWHVN?

NEWHVN is a clinically integrated provider network based in the Fox Valley and Green Bay health care markets. Bellin Health, ThedaCare and independent physicians comprise its membership. Presently, NEWHVN has nearly 630 physicians and six major health facilities in its network. NEWHVN was formed to bring a unique, high-quality, integrated health care network to northeast Wisconsin. Working with insurance carriers and employers NEWHVN provides access to outstanding health care providers dedicated to delivering higher quality for a better value.

What is NEWHVN’s philosophy regarding health care delivery?

We believe the traditional model of health care financing is broken. With a new focus on value, NEWHVN’s contracting model relies on shared clinical information, best-in-class clinical outcomes, and a team approach which emphasizes disease prevention.  We believe these changes are crucial if we want to coordinate care, improve results and tame the high cost of health care. The uncontrolled cost of health care services can only be controlled by providing the right care for the right person at the right time.

What differentiates NEWHVN from other health care delivery models / insurance companies?

Clinically integrated health network: Knocking down the barriers When health care information is centralized and made readily available to those who need it, good things happen. Providers in NEWHVN agree to electronically share relevant clinical patient information between the physician clinics and medical facilities. The use of an electronic health record allows for a seamless transfer of patient information between NEWHVN providers. Records are kept in a secure protected repository which can be accessed by member providers. Medical errors are reduced, care improves, and costs are contained.

Track, measure and report to providers and payors regarding the quality of care produced: Accountability and transparency
Utilizing clinical results is the difference. NEWHVN tracks and reports on clinical performance based on a set of critical criteria. Feedback to both the health care provider and the health care payor ensures compliance with best practices and aligns our efforts to effect positive change. Through this monitoring and reporting, NEWHVN participants have more tools to sustain changes in behavior, culture and cost of care. It is our belief that high quality care is cost effective care.

Price competitive reimbursement for the services provided: Efficiency and responsibility
The NEWHVN contracting model allows for competitive pricing arrangements. Gone are the days of discounting health care payments as the sole means for controlling costs. Our approach supports and rewards superior clinical results. Through the use of risk sharing, we can increase our ability to impact outcomes and effect costs.

Single signature authority binds all NEWHVN providers to an agreement: Ease of contracting
The NEWHVN Board of Directors can bind all NEWHVN providers to an agreement with a single signature.
